Some Days…
What You Do With a Miracle – Part 2
After everything I had been through…
and after that moment where things suddenly shifted…
I found myself asking a different question:
Now what?
Because when something that heavy lifts, you don’t just go back to the way things were.
At least, I couldn’t.
Something felt different.
Lighter… but also more intentional.
And one of the first realizations I had was this:
You can’t keep a moment like that to yourself.
Hope, relief, gratitude… whatever you want to call it…
if you hold onto it too tightly, it fades.
It has to move.
It has to go somewhere.
For me, that showed up in a simple but meaningful way.
I’d been unceremoniously “removed” from the only out-of-the-house time I had by losing my part-time DJ job.
My outlook had included surgery, chemo, possibly even radiation, and a severe lack of people who appeared to want to spend time around me.
I wasn’t sure I even wanted to be around people again.
And even though I was now to be “free” from that path, after everything I had been through, I was admittedly still carrying a lot of it.
But after things shifted…
I thought about it again.
And I realized something simple.
They had been people who had been kind to me.
They had shown up for me.
And now I had the opportunity to show up for them.
So I reached out…
and I said yes to a request for doing something for someone.
And it might seem like a small thing.
But it didn’t feel small.
It felt like part of the answer.
Because doing something good for someone else, especially when you’ve been given something unexpected…
It changes you.
It re-centers you.
It reminds you that you’re still here for a reason.
And I really believe this now:
Positivity doesn’t survive in isolation.
It grows when you give it away.
And sometimes…
what you do with a miracle…
is simply pass it on.
Positivity doesn’t survive in isolation…
